There are many SNL’s that address all different issues and different age groups. Sometime an SNL is for one group, other times it is for all. We focus a lot on young people, workers, men, women. Today this SNL is specifically for those people, who are mature in life. It is said of bananas, there are 4 groups: unripe, ripe, mature, rotten. Most people tend to think that the older a person gets, the more incapacitated they are, and less useful for anything. I was talking to a mature person recently, and they were telling me, there was no one who wanted to wrestle them ..imagine, afraid of a mature person. I also spoke to someone, who challenged all the ripe ones, a competition in diving. Not a soul was willing to take on the mature person. Why? Scared of being defeated by a mature person? And yet, still the thought persists- ah, they are over mature, almost rotten. So, why be afraid to take them on? And what do you call…fresh and green? If a person was labelled as fresh and green, age group please? Teens? Twenties? Thirties? Of course not mature, perhaps they do not wash, so cant be fresh and green. Really? Really? Well, let us see who God calls Fresh and Green. Ps 92 :14. Fresh and green in ……old age. Wow! Fresh and green in old age. What an encouragement for all the “oldies”. God sees you as fresh and green!! No wonder the young ones wouldn’t take you on! Now that is Forever Young!! This is what the righteous verse 12 will be like- flourishing like a palm tree verse 12, in the courts of God, verse 13. Still bearing fruit verse 14, in old age, they will stay fresh! And green! Wow…what encouragement for the older mature ones. The young ones have nothing on you!. They can’t keep up! Imagine, Pro 4: 18- true, no age, but refer it back to Ps 92: 14, and whatever the age, even old! You shine brighter and brighter! And the end, is not sunset here...oh no! Its midday, heat of the sun. Strong still. Again the key is righteous. Stay close to God. Job 17: 9 the righteous grow stronger and stronger. So opposite to the world’s thinking. The older ones are good for nothing. They have past their used by date. Good for nothing. Yet, even in physical things, I was informed no one wanted to compete with the “older” one. Jer 17: 7-8 righteous leaves remain green and always alive and fruitful. No fear of famine or heat. Always a tree of water, shelter, fruit, green and fresh. Sadly, it is a fight, how the world wants to categorise. Yet our hope is not in the world, but in the LORD. What is the secret of Forever Fresh? Forever green? A close walk with the LORD. The youth can’t match you...they disappear like the mist…Walk strong in the LORD.
