This is an expression in English...Google it....That's a bit rich coming from you... means you are a hypocrite...saying one thing but doing another or opposite thing..
To teach something like no alcohol, but then drink yourself, is hypocrisy. To speak against idolatry, but worship idols and crucifixes, is hypocrisy. That's a bit rich.... We must always be careful that we do not fall into this trap. What do you do if you love an idolater? Well Paul is clear..an idol is a demon . So by definition an idolater is a demon worshipper. And Paul says what have demons and the LORD Jesus in common? Nothing at all. People sometimes think idolatry is a small thing. It's just a crucifix. And yet God says.
Do not make an image of ANYTHING on earth. A crucifix is something. On earth. Its a murder weapon. What sort of people worship a murder weapon? The same ones who probably drink poison and handle snakes . Mark 16:9ff. Some choices in life are hard. Marry an idolater. Marry a thief. Etc etc etc. Why is it so hard to choose? Why do we blind ourselves? Is it about love? Is it about getting old? When do we compromise? Should we? To stand up for the gospel is really really hard. But we must as far as possible have integrity and not be hypocrites, so no one can say..
That's a bit richer..
