Things are not as they seem

I went to my physiotherapist this morning. Then I went to the secretary of one of my doctors also this morning. I recognised neither of them. They recognised me. So then I knew it was them. Honestly, I was shocked. I mean shocked. They were not what I was seeing for the past fews years. Their face, their form, had changed since before cataract surgery. Or perhaps, what had changed, was I could now see clearly what they looked like. Reminds me of the Scripture, 1 Cor 13:12, now we see like through a dim mirror. Then we will see face to face. What we think was beautiful, this life, will be revealed. And when it is, we wonder....oh...was I blind. To assess a situation, we need a comparison. Without a comparison we assume something is good, nice. But once we have a comparison, like a person or situation, only then can we truly assess if something was good or bad. So, something is good, as it's all we know; until something better or clearer comes along. On the other hand, as the saying says, " never judge a book by it's cover". In this sense, the character of the person stays the same, the only change is the outward appearance. The LORD looks at the heart 1 Sam 16:7 We cannot. But we can see the fruit of the tree, the life of the person Lk 6:43. That is a fact. For this life, we tend to see the person first. If they pass the "sight" test, we move on to stage 2. What I did learn is that we can form things in our mind, about a person's looks. That may or may not be real. But what is important is who they are, character wise.
